Edward Fordham returned to England with his father Richard who took him to New Lanark to meet Robert Owen the Welsh industrialist and
former. It was here that he received his first formal education. Before he returned to the USA Richard introduced him to members of the
n England including the Fordham's at Ashwell and Benjamin and his daughters, Sarah and Eliza (page 13).
Flower returned to America and died in 1829. The inheritance Edward Fordham received on his father's death provided sufficient funds to
rewery in Stratford-upon-Avon. Brewing was in the family blood from the early days in Hertfordshire and after a struggling start Flowers' beers
universally famous and lasted well into the latter half of the 20th century.
